Woman around 50 years old sitting by her window, relaxed

Hospital Ángeles Valle Oriente · San Pedro Garza García

“It's normal at your age” does not mean you have to just live with it.

Dryness, light bladder leakage, sleepless nights. After 40, they are common, yes. But common is not the same as “having no choice”: there are options, and discovering them starts with an unhurried, comfortable evaluation.

Spoken in a whisper

The changes almost no one talks about

Shared only halfway among friends and often never mentioned to the doctor. They have real medical causes, and all of them are valid reasons for a consultation.

“I haven't told this to anyone.”

Dryness & Intimate Discomfort

Burning, itching, friction that wasn't there before. You notice it almost daily, and you might not have told anyone.

“I'm afraid to laugh out loud.”

Light Bladder Leaks

When laughing hard, coughing, or exercising. You start locating the restroom everywhere and declining plans “just in case.”

“I'd rather make up an excuse.”

Discomfort During Intimacy

What you used to enjoy now feels uncomfortable or painful, and sometimes an excuse is easier than explaining. It can be discussed with respect, and it can be treated.

“I wake up drenched at 3 AM.”

Hot Flashes & Broken Sleep

Hot flashes in the middle of a meeting or meal, soaked sheets at 3 AM, and an exhaustion that has started to feel normal.

“I don't feel like myself anymore.”

Mood & Energy Changes

Irritable without reason, unprompted tears, not recognizing yourself. “I'm not me anymore” is frequently heard in consultation, and it has a hormonal explanation.

“Nobody warned me it would stay like this.”

Postpartum Changes

Nobody told you things might feel different after childbirth. Months or years later, this is also a valid reason for consultation and is evaluated individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions before the first visit

How often should I see a gynecologist?

An annual checkup starting at age 21 or when you become sexually active. If something feels unusual, don't wait for your annual date: you can schedule an appointment earlier.

At what age should I start Pap smears or HPV tests?

Pap smears are recommended starting at age 21 and HPV screening from age 30. Both detect cervical cancer early and are performed quickly during your office visit.

Do menopause symptoms just have to be endured?

Being common after 40 doesn't mean they cannot be treated. Dryness, bladder leaks, intimacy discomfort, and broken sleep have medical causes and are valid consultation reasons. Options for you are determined in an in-person evaluation.

How much is the evaluation consultation?

The evaluation is $1,500 MXN and is paid on the day of your appointment at the clinic. If you decide on an intimate health treatment, this fee is credited toward your care.

Do you consult in English?

Yes. Dr. Alfonso consults in both Spanish and English. Many of his patients are bilingual or expatriates living in Monterrey.

“I'll take care of it later” has been on your to-do list for years.
